For about ten years of my career I was fully support based. While I didn't absolutely hate fundraising, I never loved it either and looked forward to the day when God would call me into some other arrangement.
Well that day came a few years ago and I now primarily focus on web app development and SupportGoal. What is ironic to me is that the skills and habits I learned during fundraising are a major part of the work I continue to do - even though I'm no longer fundraising.
I share that as a word of encouragement to folks who might otherwise tend to view fundraising as a season to "get through" rather than a valuable opportunity to be immersed in learning a skill that will not only help with your vision in the short term, but potentially for much longer.
So yeah, try to make the most of your time as a fundraiser. Press in, learn how to deepen your dependence on the Lord, faithfully and respectfully contact people and ask them the hard questions and develop disciples, not just people who mail in the occasional check.
